* LUMS black week and hunger strike camp ends
* FAST students hold ‘funerals of constitution, judiciary’

LAHORE: Students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and FAST-National University continued protesting against the imposition of emergency in the country. They held several events in which they pledged to continue struggling for the restoration of the constitution.

LUMS Hunger Strike: The LUMS students’ black week ended on Friday. Some students attended the last day of the hunger strike camp set up on the campus. The students said that the LUMS Student Movement would meet on Saturday (today) to chalk out a future plan of action for the protests.

FAST Protest: FASTRising, a student body at the FAST-National University, organised a commemoration of the death of the constitution of Pakistan on Friday.

Students and alumni wrote the words ‘Democracy Now’ using candles.

The students also laid floral wreaths on mock graves of the constitution and the judiciary. The students also held candles to mark their protest against the suspension of the constitution. Some students also attended their classes black armbands. They announced that such events would be held every Wednesday and Saturday on the university campus.

On the occasion, a new symbol of resistance was presented – the national flag in black. The designers explained that the reduced white margin represented the growing intolerance in the society, the wane crescent represented Pakistan’s regression in terms of maturity and civilisation and the black represented the loss, death, mourning and specifically the end of constitutional authority.
