The organisers said they had spent a large amount of money to get the latest technology. A 3D cinema, they said, cost 10 times an ordinary cinema and the entire cinema had to be renovated in order for the 3D technology to be installed. They also hoped to add three more screens and IMAX technology to their cinema house. “We want to revive the cinema. Our focus is youth who embrace new technologies,” said Ali Chaudhry. He said that they had special discounts for students.

The event was well attended. The audience’s enthusiasm and excitement were palpable. Cinema-goer Sobia said, “3D is about bringing life to a big screen. It’s good to know that people are taking initiatives to revive entertainment through cinemas.” The cinema owners hope to showcase many 3D films in the coming months. Unfortunately the lack of 3D film production in Pakistan means that no Lollywood film will be shown. However, the Bollywood film, Wanted is slated to be screened.

The cinema is going to offer 3D glasses for an affordable price. Glasses can be re-used at further showings.

In a bid to embrace latest technology of 21st  century, Pakistani cinema goers will now experience the unique technology of 3D movies as country’s first 3D cinema is fast approaching the completion stage and the first movie is likely to be aired by October 2010

Mandviwala Entertainment plans to build three theatres with an investment of Rs 60 million Based in Karachi, the major work of the cinema has already been completed and the interior of the cinema is being given the final touches in this regard.

It is pertinent to mention here that 42 feet screen in all three theatres will accommodate a total of 670 movie goers who will be provided the opportunity to enjoy 3D experience.

Nadeem Mandviwala, the owner of Mandviwala Entertainment in an interview with BBC Urdu showed optimism that the country will enter into 21st century with this technology.

He said that world is swiftly shifting from 35 MM technology to 3D cinemas, while this ongoing project can be considered as a step towards digital movies in Pakistan.

Mr. Nadeem was of the view that the technology itself is in evolving stages and it would be unwise to predict it will be an instant hit. “Pakistani Cinema Industry is currently undergoing the fall, as the trend of demolishing cinemas to replace with plazas is rising. So one has to be cautious in this regard.” He added.

ل سنیما زیر تعمیر ہے، جہاں تھری ڈی فلمیں بھی دیکھی جاسکیں گی۔

چھ کروڑ روپے سے زائد کی لاگت سے تیار ہونے والا تین تھیٹروں پر مشتمل یہ سنیما رواں سال اکتوبر میں عوام کے لیے کھول دیا جائے گا۔

پاکستان کے سب سے بڑے شہر اور تجارتی مرکز کراچی کے ایٹ ریئم مال میں ان تین تھیٹروں کی تعمیر مکمل ہوچکی ہے اور اب اسے دیگر ساز و سامان سے آراستہ کیا جا رہا ہے، تینوں تھیٹروں میں چھ سو ستر شائقین کی گنجائش ہے جبکہ بیالیس فٹ کی سکرین پر شائقین مووی دیکھ سکیں گے۔

دنیا کے چالیس ممالک میں پندرہ ہزار سے زائد تھری ڈی سنیما ہیں اور پاکستان کا شمار بھی ان ممالک میں ہو جائے گا۔

انیس سو ننانوے سے لیکر اب تک ایک ہزارتھری ڈی فلمیں ریلیز کی جاچکی ہیں۔

کراچی سے ہمارے نامہ نگار ریاض سہیل کے مطابق پاکستان کے اس پہلے ڈیجیٹل سنیما کے منتظمین مانڈی والا انٹرٹینمنٹ کمپنی ہے، اس کمپنی کے مالک ندیم مانڈی والا کا کہنا ہے کہ اس ٹیکنالوجی سے پاکستان بیسویں صدی میں داخل ہو جائے گا۔

ان کے مطابق دنیا میں فلمی صنعت پینتیس ملی میٹر فلم سے ڈیجیٹل سنیما کی طرف تیزی سے منتقلی ہو رہی ہے مگر پاکستان میں ابھی سنیما کی تعمیر ہو رہی ہے ، مگر وہ سمجھتے ہیں ڈیجیٹل سنیما کی طرف یہ تھیٹر پہلا قدم ہے۔ ان کے مطابق ڈیجیٹل سنیما دشوار ٹیکنالوجی ہے اس میں ابھی تبدیلیاں لائی جارہی ہیں اور یہ مہنگی بھی اس لیے وہ فوری یہ توقع نہیں کر سکتے کہ یہ تیزی کے ساتھ ملک میں پھیل جائے گی۔

فلمی صنعت کے فنی ماہر حسین چھاگلا کا کہنا ہے کہ پاکستان ٹینکالوجی میں پچاس سال پیچھے ہے، موجودہ اور پرانی ٹیکنالوجی میں دن رات کا فرق ہے ۔

ان کے مطابق دنیا بھر میں ڈیجیٹل سنیما اور تھری ڈی کو بہت پسند کیا جا رہا ہے اور اس کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہو رہا ہے۔ اس قدر مانگ کی وجہ سے ڈیجیٹل سنیما کے آلات بنانے والی کمپنیاں آلات کی فراہمی نہیں کر پا رہی ہیں۔

’ ہمارے یہاں سنیما میں بہتری تو نہیں آ رہی الٹا انہیں گرایا جا رہا ہے، بھارتی فلم آنے کے بعد یہاں سنیما کا ایک نیا دور شروع ہوا ، اگر یہ ہی سلسلہ جاری رہا تو فلمی صنعت آگے بڑھے گی۔‘

پاکستان کی فلمی صنعت اسی کی دہائی کے بعد بحران کا شکار ہوئی، جس کے بعد کراچی، لاہور سمیت کئی شہروں میں سنیما مسمعار کر کے ان پر پلازہ بنائے گئے۔

ندیم مانڈی والا کا کہنا ہے کہ سنیما کا یہ زوال وی سی آر کے کی آمد کی وجہ سے آیا جس سے پاکستان میں پائریسی اور بے ضابطگیوں کے نئے دور کا آغاز ہوا، ان کے مطابق پچیس سال سے اس وقت تک بحرانی صورتحال چلتی رہی جب تک حکومت نے اپنی پالیسیوں کو ٹھیک نہیں کیا۔

ملک کے سب سے بڑے فلم ڈسٹری بیوٹر کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ کہا جاتا تھا کہ پلازہ بنانے کے لیے سنیما گرائے جا رہے ہیں جو تاثر بلکل غلط ہے، درحقیقت حکومت کی کچھ پالسیاں ایسی تھیں جن کی وجہ سے سنیما تعمیر ہونے کے بجائے گرتا رہا ، مگر جب پالیساں تبدیل ہوئیں تو دو ہزار سات سے نئے سنیما گھروں کی تعمیرشروع ہوئی اور عوام کی طرف سے بھی پذیرائی ملی۔
